How the audit works

1

Find your listing

Search your business name and pick your Google Maps listing. No login, no data ID to copy, nothing to install.

2

We read your reviews

We pull your most recent Google reviews and read each one against Google’s published Contributed Content policies — the positive ones included.

3

You get the reasoning

Every flagged review comes with the policy it appears to breach, why we think so, and the Google pathway to report it through.

What Google actually takes down

Google won’t remove a review for being harsh or unfair. It removes content that breaches its policies. These are the categories we check for.

Fake engagement

Reviews from people who were never customers — competitors, former staff, family, paid or coordinated reviews, or reviews left on the wrong location.

Off topic

Content that isn’t about a customer’s experience at your business: political rants, unrelated grievances, or “never been here, but…”.

Harassment and extortion

Threats, intimidation, targeting individual staff by name, or demanding a refund or a discount in exchange for changing the review.

Advertising and solicitation

Promotional links, phone numbers, competitor plugs or contact details left in a review instead of an actual experience.

Personal information

Home addresses, phone numbers, financial details, ID or medical information about staff or customers, posted without consent.

Unclear or repetitive

Gibberish, bot-style text, or the same wording copy-pasted across unrelated businesses.

We check every category in Google’s Contributed Content policy, not only the six above. A negative but honest review is never flagged — that isn’t what this tool is for.

Questions owners ask

Is the audit really free?
Yes. The scan, the flagged count, the category breakdown and the rating projection are free and need no account and no card. Creating a free account unlocks the per-review detail and the report links.
Will these reviews definitely be removed?
No — and anyone promising that is not being straight with you. Only Google decides. What we do is identify the reviews that appear to breach its published policies and hand you the specific reason and pathway, so your reports are the strongest version of themselves.
What do you do with my data?
We only read reviews that are already public on your Google Maps listing. We save the audit so you can come back to its link, and delete it automatically after 90 days. Your email is used only if you choose to create an account.
How long does it take?
About a minute. We read your most recent reviews rather than your entire history, which is enough to show you the pattern without keeping you waiting.
What happens after I create an account?
Your Google listing and its reviews are imported into your trial, so Review Shield keeps watching new reviews as they arrive instead of you re-running this by hand.
